The Cerberus Project

Chapter 9:

Performance of the Cluster

The performance of the cluster is a massive factor in quantifying how valuable all of the effort invested thus far is justified or not. This chapter addresses how effective the cluster currently is, the methods to improve performance over the last year and the final tests and results in respect to the cluster.

Current Performance of the Project

This section covers the discreet performance of the cluster and its ability to process in respect to frames per second. The overall project goal was to meet of exceed 24 frames per second in order to accomplish real time post production perfoence.

Methods to Improve Performance

Over the course of the project, several different methods were tackled in an effort to boost the performance of the system. All of these methods are contained within this section of the chapter.

Tests and Results

In order to gauge how effective different aspects of the project were, a variety of tests were designed and implemented to gauge performance. From networking, disk and CPU tests, each was tested to pursue different metric for performance updates.
